John J. Raad, PE, Joins Ruby+Associates as Principal

Ruby+Associates, a Degenkolb Company, is proud to announce that former General Motors Sustainable Workplaces engineering leader John J. Raad, PE has joined the firm as Principal.

Raad enjoyed a 23-year career with GM as a structural engineer. In July 2023 he elected to participate in the company’s Voluntary Separation Program to explore other opportunities. With GM, after serving as Structural Engineer, Project Engineer, and then Facilities Manager for locations in Maryland and Virginia, John went on to roles as Project Manager, Structural Subject Matter Expert, and most recently, Engineering Group Manager from 2018 - 2023. 

Over the years, while with GM, John has worked with Ruby+Associates team members on many large projects together, including the four-site $1B Body Shop Manufacturing Program; Ultium Battery Cell Manufacturing Facilities in Lordstown, Ohio, and Lansing, Michigan; and the Duramax Diesel Engine Plant in Brookville, Ohio.

While with GM, John led facility and planning groups for greenfield and brownfield sites on projects ranging from $10M to $1.6B in total facility investment.

John has a Master of Engineering degree in Civil-Structural Engineering as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Wayne State University (WSU). He served as an adjunct faculty member and co-lecturer for senior design at WSU for four years in the College of Civil Engineering.
