When John was in college in the early 1990’s, he pictured himself working for a big, worldwide firm doing traditional design work that structural engineers are known for doing. At graduation time, jobs were scarce at those big, worldwide firms so he took the best offer he had (at Ruby) and figured he’d move on after a few years.
What he didn’t count on was the variety of work and the depth of knowledge possessed by the Ruby staff. Having the opportunity to work directly with the contractors on the behind the scenes work that needs to be done has kept John happy and engaged. He has been an integral part of Ruby’s growth to the point that we now regularly compete with those big, worldwide firms.
John is a Senior Principal, Ruby shareholder and member of the Management Team. He holds a BS in Engineering Physics from Hope College and a MSE in Civil Engineering from the University of Michigan. John is a licensed Professional Engineer in 19 states, and is a Designated Design-Build Professional certified with the Design-Build Institute of America.
