Naval Air Station Helicopter Hangar Complex

Replacing WWII era hangars and increasing safety and efficiency of helicopter maintenance.

This new $73 million facility houses five SH-60R "Romeo" helicopter squadrons, the Navy's next generation of carrier-based submarine hunter and surface attack maritime dominance helicopters. A member of Walbridge’s design-build team, Ruby+Associates performed the structural design for this 200,000 square foot hangar complex, which replaces World War II-era hangars and increases the safety and efficiency of helicopter maintenance. Ruby worked closely with Midwest Steel and Walbridge to develop a structure that could be constructed within the schedule and budget established during pre-award.
